Have you started planning your hotel marketing for 2013?

As 2012 begins to wind down, it is time to start planning for 2013 and prioritizing your hotel marketing goals. What are your goals? What will you do to reach them? How much will you budget?

Before we look forward, let’s look at the progress and research of 2012. There have been some major movements as it relates to social media, mobile, corporate booking, web marketing and visual merchandising. In the past year we’ve seen photographs become the new social currency as more than 200 million photos are being shared on Facebook every day[1], and that number continues to rise. Photos and social media are changing the way consumers make travel decisions.

Business and leisure travelers are using mobile devices more frequently to access travel information; business travelers’ usage increase from 40% in 2010 to 57% in 2012, while leisure travelers increased from 11% to 38%. [2]This pattern displays an upward adoption trend and is likely to continue into 2013. Tablet usage is growing fast as more people are acquiring the product, and changing their shopping habits; this past year alone tablet users spent 21% more than desktop users.[3]

Don’t let this overwhelm you, knowing what fellow hotel marketers are focused on for 2013 can help lead you in the right direction. This is why we have launched a Facebook poll and are asking hoteliers “What is your primary marketing focus for 2013?”

Please take our poll, tell us what you’re focused on and see what your peers are planning for 2013 so you can stay competitive.  Don’t forget to like us on Facebook while you’re there –
